Tea Cup Gin plays jazz and show tunes from early 20th century. The most influential period of American music, the early 1900s witnessed the first published blues, the explosion of ragtime, and the birth of jazz. Tea Cup Gin draws inspiration from performers such as Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael, W.C. Handy, and Billie Holiday. With two guitars, a bass, and vocals, their performances are reminiscent of parlor music. Christy Benson delivers passionate vocals as beautiful as a nightingale’s song or with the grit of a delta blues artist. A strong rhythm section of Nigel Clarke on bass and Tim McElroy on percussion, and the interplay of guitarists Mike Reid and John Klonowski bring a fresh approach to classic American music...
